2.2. Certificate of Airworthiness
An aircraft that meets the requirements for certification shall not fly in or over Botswana unless it has a valid and current Certificate of Airworthiness (or equivalent document) issued by the State in which the aircraft is registered.
(a) Grant of certificate of airworthiness
An application for the grant of a certificate of airworthiness shall be made to the Authority on CAAB Form AIR 113, in accordance with the procedure set out in AAC 007. Unless revoked, a certificate of airworthiness issued by the Authority shall be valid for a period of twelve (12) months.
(B) Renewal of Certificate of Airworthiness
Once issued, and subject to the aircraft remaining airworthy to the satisfaction of the Authority, the certificate may be renewed on an annual basis following an inspection of the aircraft by the Authority and a duly approved maintenance organization.
An application for renewal of a certificate of airworthiness shall be made to the Authority at least four (4) weeks before expiry of the current certificate on CAAB Form AIR 113 as per the procedure set out in AAC 007.
