Search & Rescue Services

Overview

This involves Planning, coordination and directing search and rescue services with all partner agencies for aircraft in distress within the Botswana SAR region.

The objective of Search and Rescue services shall be to contribute towards the safety, regulatory and efficiency of Air Navigation. The search and recue service provider of the Gaborone FIR shall determine the type and degree of search and rescue in accordance with standards and recommended practices.

Search and Rescue Centers

  • Gaborone Search and Rescue Center is readily available all the time as the Parent RCC.
  • There are three SAR sub centers within the Region namely Francistown, Maun and Kasane.

Any person in Botswana, having reason to believe that a civil aircraft is experiencing an emergency, shall immediately give all available, relevant information to the following telephone numbers
