On the 17th July 2020 Air Botswana resumed its scheduled domestic flight operations. The first flight take-off from Gaborone to Maun brought a shared sense of accomplishment and a new wave of hope in the local aviation industry amidst COVID-19 pandemic. Air Botswana suspended both domestic and regional travel operations from 27th March 2020 as a precautionary measure to combat the spread of COVID-19.

General Manager of Air Botswana Ms Agnes Khunwane said the resumption of domestic operations is an exciting development and is subject to health and safety protocols and the new ways of working. She further said they would resume full operations and expand to different routes subject to passenger response. The occasion was also witnessed by the Minister of Transport and Communication Honourable Thulagano Segokgo who conveyed best wishes to all passengers.

This event was facilitated by Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) which ensured compliance to COVID-19 protocols at the Airports, to minimize the risk of contracting COVID-19. Some of the measures which the Authority has put in place at all airports include registration and temperature recordings of all employees and visitors, availability of hand sanitizers for all and maintaining social distancing.
