A Licensing office is an essential arm of a civil aviation regulatory body.
The CAA Act 2004 stipulates that the Authority shall perform its functions in accordance with sound commercial and financial principles, and shall ensure as far as possible, that its revenue is sufficient to meet the expenditure properly chargeable to its revenues.
An aircraft shall not fly in or over Botswana unless it has a current and valid certificate of airworthiness issued or rendered valid by the State in which the aircraft is registered.
The Authority may issue a special flight permit to the operator of an aircraft whose certificate of airworthiness is not in force.
